Moving-day parking in Prague: reserve space for the work, not just the van

July 11, 2026 · Guides for drivers

Moving day turns an ordinary parking space into a small logistics project. You need enough room to open doors, carry furniture, and return to the vehicle repeatedly without blocking a gate or relying on a space that may disappear before the first box is out.

Plan the loading point

Confirm the building entrance, lift, gate, ramp, and the route from the vehicle to the door. Ask the property manager or building representative about access rules, loading windows, and any temporary permission required for a public street. A private parking reservation can secure a place on private land, but it does not authorize stopping on a public road or blocking a shared entrance.

Check the van's height, length, and turning circle. If the space is inside a courtyard, confirm that the vehicle can pass the gate and that another car will not prevent loading. Reserve enough time for the whole move, including delays, cleaning, and the final walk. If the platform or host supports messages, send a concise arrival plan rather than assuming the host will be available all day.

Keep a backup

Furniture moves rarely run to the minute. Have a second legal option nearby, such as a larger garage, a public loading arrangement, or a second private space. Do not double-park while checking your phone, and do not leave the van unattended with doors open. Keep valuables and documents out of sight.

The delivery-parking guide covers loading-zone thinking, while the vehicle-fit checklist helps with a van or larger car. Search the map early, then confirm the exact rules with the building and the chosen host.
