Parking spot dimensions: help drivers check vehicle fit

July 11, 2026 · Guides for hosts

A parking spot can be technically long enough and still be a poor fit. Drivers need to know how they enter, open the doors, clear a gate, and leave again. Hosts who describe those constraints early get fewer confused messages and fewer avoidable first-booking problems.

Measure the whole route

Record the usable length and width, not only the painted rectangle. Include the narrowest point at the gate, ramp, wall, column, hedge, or turn. If the space is covered, write down the clear height below every beam or door. A sloping surface can change the effective clearance, especially for a long vehicle or a low front bumper.

Mention whether the driver can turn around or must reverse in. A courtyard may have generous space at the final spot but a difficult approach. If another vehicle, bicycle, bin, or door can reduce the clearance, describe when that happens. The listing description guide helps turn measurements into something a driver can understand.

Ask the right vehicle questions

The important details vary by car. A compact hatchback, estate, van, SUV, and car with a roof box do not need the same clearance. You do not need to approve every model manually, but you should state the limits a driver can compare: maximum length, width including mirrors if relevant, height, and any weight or access restriction.

Take photos from the street, the entrance, and the parked position. The photo guide shows why a single top-down image is not enough. If you are uncertain, make the listing conservative and invite a question before booking rather than promising a fit you cannot verify.

Use the public host page when the details are ready. The host hub links the rest of the setup process, including pricing, availability, access, and the first booking. Clear dimensions are not a disadvantage: they help the right driver choose with confidence.
