Parking a rental car in Prague: check fit, access, and the return plan
A rental car adds one uncertainty to an ordinary parking decision: the vehicle may not be the size you expected. A compact booking can become a problem when the agency hands you a larger estate car, a van, or a model with a wider body and different turning circle.
Inspect the actual vehicle
Before booking, note the rental car's width, length, height, and any roof box. Compare them with the listing's marked dimensions, garage clearance, turning space, and surface. If the listing does not make vehicle fit clear, ask before payment. Do not assume that a “standard” space fits every standard car.
Access matters as much as the bay. Check whether you need a key, code, remote, app, or host handoff; whether the entry is available during your return; and whether the route includes a narrow ramp. Photograph the car according to the rental company's instructions and follow its policy for damage, valuables, and fuel. A private parking booking does not replace the rental contract.
Plan pickup and return separately
At the airport or rental desk, a short luggage stop is not the same as long-stay parking. For a hotel, ask where to unload and where to leave the car overnight. For a day trip, compare a metro-connected P+R with a reserved space near the destination. Leave time for the rental return, traffic, refuelling, and a final inspection.
