Weekend parking when visiting Prague residents: do not guess from the calendar
Weekend parking near a Prague resident is not automatically free. The operating hours on the sign, the municipal district, an event, street cleaning, and the actual length of the stay all matter. A Friday-evening arrival and a Sunday departure can cross several different parking conditions.
Plan the whole window
Ask the resident for the exact entrance and check the street in the official Prague parking map. Read the sign at the place where you intend to stop, including supplementary panels. Do not rely on a rule from another district or on the assumption that blue-zone controls pause for every weekend.
If you arrive with luggage, children, or a large vehicle, decide whether a short unloading stop and a separate overnight space are needed. Keep K+R, delivery, disabled, and reserved bays separate from ordinary visitor parking. If the resident has a long-term permit, it belongs to the eligible vehicle and zone; it does not automatically cover your plate.
Compare a stable alternative
For a whole weekend, compare a public garage, P+R, and a bookable private space near the apartment. Private parking can be useful when you want a known bay, a defined access window, and a route that is easier to repeat. Check the host’s end time, gate, lighting, surface, dimensions, and after-hours contact. The space is not public street permission, and the booking does not override a temporary closure.
